PicMonkey CollageWhat keeps you motivated?
The closer I got to age 40, the harder it has been to lose weight. Most of my life I have lived a pretty unhealthy lifestyle. I used to smoke cigarettes and managed to quit nine years ago. Since then I had gained close to 50 lbs. I have been living with GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) for the last six years, and this last year I have been battling high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I finally decided I’d had enough, and it was time to make some lifestyle changes. A guy I work with had told me about Eupraxia and I finally decided to give it a try. I went to listen to Dr. Steve’s nutrition presentation at the beginning of the 8-week program, and committed to changing my ways in order to enjoy a healthier, fuller life with my wife and kids.

Do you ever have periods where your motivation is low and miss a few workouts?
I have had times where motivation is low, but I don’t let that keep me from workouts. Once I’m there the motivation builds quickly.

Did you take any Advocare, Plexus, Isagenix or any other multi-level marketing products?
No. I have friends that take Isagenix and always rave about it. I wanted to prove to them that you don’t need it.

What supplements if any do you take?PicMonkey Collage1
Innate Choice probiotic, Innate Choice Fish Oil

What’s your typical weekly workout schedule?
Five times a week most weeks, a couple weeks I was out of town and went 4 times.

Can you describe what you eat on a typical day?
Breakfast is usually 4-6 eggs with some fruit. Mid-morning I’ll eat an apple and another fruit. Lunch is usually leftovers from the night before. Dinner is chicken, grass fed beef, or pork chops with a side of vegetables. The only thing I usually drink is water. It’s simple, but it works.

Any advice for people looking to improve their health?
The main things is to stick with it. Keep showing up to workout, and when you’re faced with unhealthy food options, remind yourself about how it will affect your health. If you treat yourself to something you know you shouldn’t eat, do it away from the home. Keeping only healthy food in the house makes health options easier.

What is favorite healthy meal?
Stir Fry

What is your favorite cheat food?
I avoid cheat food. My favorite snack is apple slices with almond butter.

Was all the hard work worth it?
Absolutely. I have had success in the past with getting into shape, but this is by far the most effective for me.
Since I joined Eupraxia I have completely changed my diet. I ate pretty crappy before, A LOT of junk food. I was taking Omeprazole to treat GERD. It was prescription strength, about twice the dosage of Prilosec OTC. Once I started Eupraxia I started dropping weight pretty fast. The change in diet had me feeling better. I stopped taking the Omeprazole about four weeks ago, and have not had any problems with heartburn, or acid reflux. Before if I missed taking it I was going to be hurting later in the day.
My blood pressure has been at its highest 152/92 checked at a doctor’s appointment in December 2013. The doctor was ready to put me on blood pressure medication, but I told her I would rather change my lifestyle to improve my health rather than take medication. So I started exercising and had to go back for a follow up 6 months later. I had not changed my diet much at that point. My blood pressure was 134/86 at the follow up appointment in June 2014. The next time I checked my blood pressure it was somewhere in between those. Where it stands today, it’s about 115/73. I can honestly say it felt good to see that the work and diet were paying off.

I would set an alarm for very early and get up to work out no matter how tired you are. Force yourself to get out of bed early every day and soon enough you’ll find yourself falling asleep at night. It will be very hard at first but a healthy habit will develop. I remember when I was in basic training I’d fall asleep while standing and catch myself as I started to fall. Another important factor is training yourself to shut off the busy mind at night. Worrying can’t solve any problem. If there is a stressor in your life that you can do something about, then do it. If there’s nothing you can do than worrying about it will do you no good. I do take a high quality fish oil, probiotic, and vit D every day. They can be found here. They are much higher in quality and less expensive than what advocare has to offer.
